If your goal is to motivate people to participate more actively in the discourse, or to discover their intentions, their desires and their needs, make use of open questions, which could lead to more articulate responses that require reasoning more elaborate. For example: What? Why? How? In what way?
It is clear that, contrary to what happens with the questions closed, this type of question requires the respondent to participate more actively, the development of reasoning and putting into the field of information you will discover more about his personality and his way of thinking.
